    Liverpool confirmed the signing of Bradley Barcola from PSG yesterday and with Cody Gakpo set to stay put, the Reds aren’t expected to have any further incomings today.

    That could all change if there’s an outgoing so it’s one to keep an eye on for sure, given Liverpool’s interest in Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh and Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr.

    Meanwhile, Harvey Elliott’s season-long loan move to Valencia is expected to be confirmed today. Elliott travelled to Spain yesterday.

    Everton defender Nathan Patterson joined from Rangers in January 2022

    It's not quite the right-back news that Everton fans may have been hoping for this morning but Nathan Patterson is in talks to join Serie A club Torino on a permanent deal.

    Everton have not signed a specialist right-back since Patterson himself joined the club four-and-a-half years ago in a £12m deal from Rangers.

    So far in this window they have been linked with Celtic's Alastair Johnston, Sunderland's Trai Hume, Daniel Munoz, who has just joined Nottingham Forest from Crystal Palace, and Fulham's Kenny Tete. The latter could yet join at some point today.

    Patterson has been firmly out of favour under both Everton manager David Moyes and predecessor Sean Dyche, making just six Premier League starts over the past two seasons.

    Should the move go ahead, it would leave Everton without a specialist right-back as things stand, and just the one left-back in Vitalii Mykolenko after Adam Aznou joined Malaga on loan.

    Everton’s Scotland defender Nathan Patterson could move to Serie A side Torino before the transfer deadline.

    Talks are underway between the clubs about a deal for the 24-year-old.

    There is no clarity yet on whether it would be on a loan or a permanent deal.

    The departure of Patterson would leave Vitaly Mykolenko as the only senior full back at Everton.

  12. Man City open talks with Chelsea over Fernandez move

    Manchester City have opened talks with Chelsea in their bid to sign midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

    In what is set to be one of the key narratives on transfer deadline day, City have set the wheels in motion towards what would be one of the most expensive deals of the summer.

    It is understood Chelsea want a minimum of £120m for Fernandez and talks are under way as both clubs negotiate a price.

    Fernandez, 25, worked with City manager Enzo Maresca during the Italian's reign at Chelsea.

    Maresca is keen to work with the Argentina international again, while Fernandez is open to a move to City.

    It now remains to be seen whether the two clubs can agree a price to unlock the deal.

    If the clubs can reach an agreement, the deal is expected to be completed rapidly, with personal terms not an issue.

  14. Sunderland agree loan deal with Spurs for Danso

    Sunderland are set to complete a season-long loan deal for Tottenham defender Kevin Danso.

    BBC Sport revealed on Friday that Spurs had rejected an initial loan proposal for Danso, 27, from the Black Cats.

    But the clubs have since reopened talks and agreed a deal in which Danso will move to the Stadium of Light on loan, with an option for Sunderland to make the move permanent.

    Tottenham's imminent signing of centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo, 28, from Chelsea has unlocked Danso's move to Sunderland.

    Spurs were previously unwilling to let the Austria international leave without finding a replacement.

    Danso joined Spurs on loan from Lens in January 2025 and the deal was made permanent for £20.9m later that year.

  15. Mudryk to Spurs as Chelsea's Sanchez heads to Como

    Chelsea have accepted offers from Tottenham for winger Mykhailo Mudryk and defender Tosin Adarabioyo, as well as a bid from Italian club Como for goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

    The trio are now expected to leave Stamford Bridge, subject to agreeing personal terms, with Spurs keen to secure Mudryk, 25, and reunite him with his former manager Roberto de Zerbi.

    The Ukraine international has not played a competitive match since November 2024, serving a suspension that followed an adverse finding for the banned substance meldonium, but he has been eligible to football since July.

    Mudryk previously played under De Zerbi at Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk before moving to Chelsea for an initial £61m.

    Spurs will also sign Chelsea defender Adarabioyo, 28, on a permanent deal to replace Kevin Danso, who is set to join Sunderland on an initial loan.

    In addition, Como, have agreed a season-long loan move for Sanchez.

  16. Abraham to stay at Villa after snubbing Ipswich

    Tammy Abraham will stay at Aston Villa after rejecting a loan move to Ipswich.

    The striker has decided to fight for his place at Villa Park after the arrival of Nicolas Jackson for £65m.

    Abraham scored three goals in 19 appearances last season after joining from Besiktas for £18.25m in January.

    Villa were open to letting him leave but, as BBC Sport reported in July, the 28-year-old is happy at Villa Park.

    Boss Unai Emery said: "Now we have one striker, Jackson, we are very happy with him. We have (Brian) Madjo, but he is injured and Tammy Abraham’s decision is to stay here.

    "We opened the door for him but he’s decided to stay here with us. I am going to be very demanding with him to add his qualities with us.

    "Tammy is coming back to the Premier League. I spoke with him. He needs time but he needs to do it as soon as possible to adapt to the Premier League. He didn't perform like we wanted last year."

    Aston Villa are expected to complete the signings of Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Ibrahim Mbaye on deadline day.

    The pair were at Villa Park to watch their new side lose 1-0 to Arsenal on Monday night.

    Defender Harwood-Bellis is due to join from Southampton in a deal worth around £30m while forward Mbaye is arriving from Paris St Germain for just under £50m.

    Villa boss Unai Emery said on Monday night he does not expect any more arrivals on deadline day and is happy with his squad after a summer of upheaval.

    The Europa League winners sold Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, Youri Tielemans, Lucas Digne, Ezri Konsa and Emi Martinez after ending their 30-year trophy drought in May.

  19. Nwaneri set to join Dortmund on loan

    Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri is set to join Borussia Dortmund on a straight season-long loan.

    BBC Sport revealed on Monday the German side had made an offer for the forward and a deal has now been agreed.

    Nwaneri will undergo a medical today.

    Everton are close to completing another season-long loan deal for Jack Grealish. The deal has been agreed with Manchester City and formalities are expected to be completed before the deadline.

    The 30-year-old scored two goals and assisted six times in 22 games for Everton before a foot injury and surgery kept him out for the rest of the season.
