Have your say on England men this summer

    Thanks Sam! Hello all.

The cover situation has definitely improved at Headingley - we've dispensed with one of the big sheets covering the pitches and as I type, the groundstaff are peeling away the covers over the run-ups.

    Fingers crossed!

In the meantime, let's have a reminder of what happened earlier on.

We're less than 10 minutes away from the earliest possible restart after an early lunch was taken.

We've heard nothing definitive either way so far but the rain has stopped and the groundstaff are working hard to get the playing area in a fit state.

Fingers crossed we'll have good news soon, here to bring it to you is Elizabeth Botcherby.

Thanks for the note of caution, Al, wouldn't want too much positivity knocking around these parts.

I take your point about needing to prove his fitness over a longer period of time but, while he is far from a flawless bowler, Ollie Robinson has taken 85 Test wickets at 21.54.

He's also taken 21 wickets at 26.9 against Australia so it's not like he's completely flopped in the Ashes either.

Bowl like he has done this morning - and at Lord's - and he can be a huge asset for this England side.

Talking about Ollie Robinson like he is some sort of saviour. Will break down with injury again, or will let his fitness go. Decent bowler, but this isn't Australia we are playing against here. Lets take a minute here everyone.

Hard to look at Robinson and think anything other than he should have played dozens of Tests and taken hundreds of wickets by now. A sad series of events handled poorly by all involved because what a skilled bowler he is - second only to the Broad/Anderson duo for England.

Things are looking much better at Headingley. The main covers are still in place but a couple of the outer ones have been removed and the clean-up operation appears to be under way.

Conditions are much improved from this a littler earlier...

A bit of news from the England camp and those players not selected for this Test will all be released to their counties for the County Championship round starting tomorrow.

So Shoaib Bashir (Derbyshire), Brydon Carse (Durham), Sam Cook (Essex), Matthew Fisher (Surrey) and Ollie Pope (Surrey) will get to play some red-ball cricket this week after all.

I'll tell you what - Muhammad Abbas is going to be an absolute nightmare if conditions stay the same. Hope the pitch flattens out/conditions get brighter when England come to bat!

This summer, Ollie Robinson has bowled 38 balls that would have hit the stumps - conceded nine runs and taken nine wickets.

His on the stumps bowling average of 1.00 is the lowest for any global seamer across a season in the ball tracking era (since 2006).

  11. Early lunch at 12:30 BSTpublished at 12:20 BST

Good news from Headingley, where the rain has stopped.

However, the less good news is that the covers are staying on for now as another band of rain is expected.

As a result, an early lunch will be taken at 12:30 BST. Hopefully that provides enough time for a prompt restart at 13:10.

With every run proving difficult to come by for Pakistan, Ollie Robinson kept the pressure on and claimed his second wicket in the fifth over of the morning.

After a change of angle, Robinson produced a fantastic in-swinger to trap Shan Masood plumb lbw - it really was as plumb as it gets - and leave Pakistan 7-2.

Ollie Robinson's such a good bowler with that new ball, he gets it to talk. The wobble balls are absolutely phenomenal.

Pakistan were just starting to build a partnership but this delay means the batters will have to go back out and get settled again.

  14. Postpublished at 12:05 BST

It was the best possible start for England and Ollie Robinson as the seamer, who took three wickets in the first over of his Test comeback at Lord's earlier this summer, struck first ball.

A full delivery, nipping back in to Azan Awais and there was little the left-hander could do. Up went the umpire's finger and the Pakistan opener, after an unsuccessful review, was on his way...

There were two balls shy of 10 overs possible before the rain arrived at Headingley - and England will be thrilled with how they went.

That, in large part, is down to another superb spell from Ollie Robinson.

We can only hope that this is just a passing shower but the rain is coming down pretty heavily at the moment.

Full covers in place and it looks pretty grim in Leeds.

And that's it for the time being!

As that review was taking place, the heavens have opened and the covers are coming on.

Good start for England, albeit having lost two reviews, but they'll have to wait to continue it.

That's an excellent decision by the umpire. It looked like a really good appeal.

  20. Not outpublished at 9.4 overs

    Pak 19-2

No bat involved, the ball flicked the back leg of Abdullah Shafique.

England were convinced by the noise but it was an excellent on-field decision. They did check for lbw as well but the ball was going well over the top.

    Another review lost.
