  1. Thanks for joining uspublished at 22:49 BST 23 April

    That's all from us tonight.

We've seen Neil Robertson overcome Pang Junxu to book his place in the second round, while Kyren Wilson came back from 0-5 down to trail Mark Allen 3-5 after the first session of their second round clash.

Tomorrow promises to be fascinating. See you then!

    Robertson 10-6 Pang

More from Neil Robertson after beating Pang Junxu 10-6: "I've not been changing my game, I'm jus trying to get every frame played on my terms. What I've been guilty of in the past, especially in multiple session matches, is thinking 'I've got 25 frames', but then having a bad session and struggling to be more aggressive.

"When you look at who I've lost to over the years here, it's the players who are great safety players. They win the safety exchanges.

"I'm trying to have as few safety exchanges as possible, but if we are, have the balls all open so I can nock in my shots. I'm not going to beat John Higgins or Mark Selby at their kind of game."

Australian Neil Robertson defeated China's Pang Junxu 10-6 to help equal a Crucible record as 15 of the 16 seeded players won their first round matches at the 2026 World Championship.

Fourth seed Robertson's four-frame victory meant for only the third time all but one of the seeds made it through their matches against the qualifiers.

The only player that came through qualifying to still be in the competition is world number 32 Hossein Vafaei of Iran, after he defeated China's Si Jiahui 10-3 earlier on Thursday.

The Crucible has staged snooker's biggest event since 1977 and never have all 16 seeds advanced, with the closest being 15 in 1983 - when Jimmy White lost to Tony Meo and then 10 years later when Doug Mountjoy defeated Alain Robidoux.

"Hossein did me a favour earlier on because all the seeds had won so the pressure was building and building and who was going to be the one that let everyone down," joked Robertson.

Robertson won the 2010 World Championship, but failed to qualify in 2024 and lost in the first round last year.

On that occasion he was beaten 10-8 by Chris Wakelin, but the pair will meet again in the last 16 with that match starting on Saturday and finishing on Monday.

    Wilson 3-5 Allen

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Four

Mark Allen has missed a trick tonight, he should have won this session 7-1 minimum because of how poorly Kyren Wilson was playing.

He has let him back into this match.

Kyren Wilson started his match really flat and not really playing his own game.

All of a sudden he got thrown a lifeline and decided to go for it, and it worked.

It shows that in the modern day game you've really got to be positive and put your foot to the floor. If you give someone that breathing space, they can get to you.

Kyren Wilson wins a third frame in a row, he looks a different player!

The Warrior produces a half-century break and Allen concedes with the score at 69-6.

Allen could have been out of sight, but this match is finely poised ahead of the second session tomorrow.

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Four

I think Mark Allen is trying to be extra careful because he knows his opponent is suffering, but you can fall into a trap a little bit. You can end up taking away from you own game.

Instead of playing his own game, he is playing because of the way Kyren is suffering.

That pink was better than 50-50 to take it on. If he pots it, he's going to win the frame.

It feels like Mark Allen let him off the hook there. In hindsight, he would have loved to have played that pink.

You can't win the World Championships playing safe and playing percentage snooker anymore.

There's an analogy with golf, you can't just play par golf anymore, for the middle of the green, you've got to attack the flag.

Allen has to attack the pink. He tried to be careful. He left a long red on for Kyren whose tail was up because he got left off the hook.

The way things were going I didn't think Kyren Wilson was going to win a frame tonight.

I think he's been allowed to do so. He's back in this match now.

Kyren Wilson's fightback continues as he pulls another frame back, his second on the bounce.

Mark Allen was is a strong position, but elected to play safe instead of trying to put a pink.

That decision backfired as Wilson potted superbly to wn the frame 94-16.

  11. 'I kept trying to open the door'published at 22:12 BST 23 April

    Robertson 10-6 Pang

Neil Robertson speaking to BBC Four after beating Pang Junxu 10-6: "Yesterday was tough, Pang doesn't try to make things happen, he's really good at trapping you defensively. You leave him some edges on some reds and eventually he gets a snooker. I kept trying to open the door and he kept closing it!

"Yesterday was really good because I battled well and tried to stay aggressive. To have alead last night was nice.

"Today I felt the new cloth helped, yesterday the table was tough. Today the table played beautifully.

"My long potting was great, created a lot of scoring opportunities. My safety was good, I didn't play bad safeties."

    Wilson 0-5 Allen

Mark Allen picks up where he left off to win a fifth frame in a row, this time 70-37.

After a tight opening the Northern Irishman just pulled away.

Wilson has a long pot success rate of just 36%, whereas Allen has 65%.

Allen has never beaten Wilson in a best-of-25 frames match - is that set to change?

Kyren Wilson is 4-0 behind but will be left wondering how he didn't get a share of the frames in the first mini session.

He led 53-17 in frame one and looked in a great position when he potted a red, only for the cue ball to then dive in the middle pocket, with Allen snatching the frame 63-53.

Wilson was also on top in frame two when 46-18 ahead before a missed red into middle proved costly, with Allen winning it 64-46.

But Allen has then made breaks of 50 and 78 in the next two to enjoy the perfect start. As soon as the first red went down in the fourth, it looked a lovely table and he got to 33 with reds and blacks before opting to go for the pink.

It's the story of a lot of the first round matches - the top seeds have struggled in the first sessions, but come good in the end.

It's the same for Neil Roberson - it feels like he has found his cue action and is ramming in the long shots, which is always good for the spirits.
