Gary: At times Dundee looked like one of those flowing Mexican sides of the past with the new strip, at others more like a bunch of bandits! Relatively untroubled by an obviously poor Kilmarnock side, any play they got was due to slackness in midfield, but we got the right result. Ash Hay played through the pain to get the decisive third and our resolve won through.

Jimmy: Another fine win, the team played really well and deserved the three points, long may it continue.

Albert: A very astute steady performance from Dundee. Pressley is working wonders with our small squad.

Steven Pressley praised Dundee's work ethic after his side moved up to fourth place in the Scottish Premiership with a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock.

"The thing that really pleased me was after Kilmarnock scored and the momentum changed, we showed great resilience and determination and ran really hard," Pressley told BBC Scotland.

"After the equaliser it is easy to feel sorry for yourselves. We didn't and we got a really important three points.

"We were reliant on a number of players. Joe Wright came in, Joe Bevan we had to change because he was cramping up. Matia Akinmbomi on loan from Bournemouth got his first taste of Scottish football. The squad has responded and is doing really, really well.

"We never set targets. The only target we set is to try to win the next game."

• Kilmarnock have only won one of their past nine league games played on a Wednesday (D2 L6), beating St Mirren 4-3 in February last season.

• Joe Hugill has scored three goals in his two Scottish Premiership appearances against Dundee for Kilmarnock, although both games were at home.

Dundee could have Joe Westley back in contention but Bobby Wales (ankle), Simon Murray, Finlay Robertson and Jack Moorhouse (all ACL) are still out.

Steven Pressley has been speaking to the media before Dundee host Kilmarnock in the Premiership on Wednesday (19:45 GMT).

Here are the key lines from the Dundee boss:

• Westley has returned to training following an ankle injury and Pressley is hopeful the forward could be involved in Wednesday night's squad.

• The Dundee boss was "pleased" with aspects of his side's performance in their 2-1 defeat against St Mirren and praised them for being "brave" in their build-up play considering the blustery conditions.

• Pressley hailed Bradley Fink's "outstanding" recent performances. The 23-year-old has scored four goals in his past five but Pressley still wants more from him: "He's an outstanding finisher with both feet, he's demonstrated that with his goals so we're really pleased but we still want more from him."

• Pressley spoke about the boost of having players back from injury: "Obviously, my selections have been inhibited because of the number of injuries we've had. Slowly but surely, not only are we getting players back but we're getting players more up to speed and more ready to participate from the start."

• On Kilmarnock, Pressley says: "We're playing against a team that have been performing really well over the last few games. With all the teams the margins are so fine and if we're not at our best on Wednesday then there's every chance we lose the game."

Dundee fans, we asked for your views after Saturday's defeat at St Mirren.

Here's what some of you had to say:

Jamie: As close as we were to getting the equaliser, the reality is that St Mirren were the better team on the day and deserved the win. Just one of those days and we move on to Kilmarnock on Wednesday.

Bob: Bad day at the office. Stats give us the majority of possession etc but the stat that matters is goals scored and we were second best on that. A couple of defensive slips seemed to cost us. Makes the midweek game even more important.

Gary: It was inevitable we'd come crashing back down at some point. Going to a team that needed a result was always a stretch and we weren't up to it. St Mirren played the conditions better, but at least we've got a midweek game to hopefully get back on track.

Albert: Very poor by Dundee. We should forget qualifying for Europe and just try to consolidate a place in the league next season.

George: We need to be winning these games. We must win midweek at home, no more slip ups. Getting back to almost full strength no excuses. This game should never have gone ahead. Conditions awful and terrible for fans travelling.

St Mirren battled Storm Boelo to defeat Dundee and end their run of five consecutive defeats with a much-welcomed victory.

Dundee head coach Steven Pressley tells BBC Scotland: "I think over the course of the game there was very little in it. I thought in the first half we controlled a lot of the ball but didn't ask questions of [St Mirren] defensively. Second half we were much better in that respect, better decision making on when to play in behind and when to control the game. We had a lot more possession and we created a number of big opportunities. We're disappointed to come away with nothing, but credit to St Mirren they showed a lot of resilience and character today.

"We showed a lot of bravery in the conditions, and the attitude. We showed a lot of bravery in the performance, it was just the choices about asking them to defend on certain occasions.

"I was pleased with aspects of the second half, the bravery in the first half, we just didn't ask enough questions of St Mirren defensively.

"It's difficult being a football manager, I'm sure Craig will enjoy this, he's a talented young manager with a big career in the game, we didn't want to lose, but credit to them

"I didn't see the scenes, when the final whistle goes I make my way up the tunnel so I don't actually know what went on.

"We need to respond [on Wednesday] in the only way and manner we know how, so I have great confidence in them to respond."

St Mirren will again be missing Nikolas Agrafiotis, Keanu Baccus, Jonah Ayunga and Malik Dijksteel.

Dundee continue to be without Joe Westley, Bobby Wales (both ankle), Simon Murray, Finlay Robertson and Jack Moorhouse (all ACL).

• St Mirren have lost five consecutive games, their longest run in the Scottish Premiership since losing six in a row from August to October 2020.

• Dundee have won two of their past three away league games (L1), as many as their previous 20 beforehand (W2 D5 L13).

Steven Pressley is garnering plenty of praise amid Dundee's bright start to the season - so what makes him a good boss to play for?

"I think he's just an honest man," says midfielder Callum Jones. "You know what you're getting from him.

"He doesn't just tell you what you want to hear, he tells you the truth. I personally have a good relationship with the manager.

"Tactically and things like that, he's spot on. I said it after the Rangers game, we go into every week, similar things, but he'll just make slight changes to what he and the staff see fit.

"Obviously, that's credit to them for the work they put in off the pitch so that we can go on the pitch and do what he's worked on."

Having recovered from an early-season ankle injury, Jones has started Dundee's past three games and scored the equaliser in last Saturday's 2-2 home draw with Rangers.

"It was a difficult start to the season, I missed a lot of pre-season, so I was playing a bit of catch-up," said the 25-year-old.

"But I feel fresh now and I've found a little bit of rhythm.

"I know I've got to be at the top of my game every week because there's good competition for places, which is what makes a successful group.

"The goal was a nice moment. Hopefully we can build some momentum and kick on as a team."

Pressley's side can leapfrog third-place Hearts - who visit Motherwell on Sunday - by inflicting a sixth straight defeat on hosts St Mirren on Saturday, but Jones isn't getting caught up in standings.

"It's not really about the league position at the minute. It is come the end of the season," he added.

"St Mirren are a good side. We'll be preparing for them like we were prepared for Rangers the previous week and try to implement our style."

• Dundee delivered an "outstanding" performance to end Rangers' seven-game winning run in last weekend's 2-2 draw and Pressley hails his side for showing a "different side to our game" in the second half with a gritty display.

• He adds that while Dundee have endured "some really dark and difficult times" with injuries this season, there's a real togetherness among the squad.

• He adds: "Yesterday I think eight of them went to play padel. These are the sort of things that make me, as a manager, extremely proud. I love seeing that. I love seeing the group so together, spending time socially together. These are all the really important things and I think they've supported each other through this time."

• While the Dark Blues are playing at a "high level", Pressley insists there is "far more" to come but adds: "We've got to be careful that we never think we're ahead of where we are, because I think our success is being built on our humility, our understanding that you only win games by doing the basics and running exceptionally hard. The moment we get away from that then I think as a team we're in trouble."

• The chance to go third with victory in Paisley on Saturday is a "big incentive", but Pressley notes a St Mirren win would move them just a point behind his side, which highlights how tight the league is.

• Despite St Mirren having lost five on the spin, Pressley is impressed by Craig McLeish's team: "I think they're playing some terrific football. They're really creative in the way they play, really inventive and I don't think they're far away from being a really good side."

• A bounce game against Rangers on Tuesday was "very positive" in getting minutes for players returning from injury. Ryan Finnigan and Charlie Reilly stepped up their comebacks by playing an hour, while Brad Halliday, Kieran O'Hara, Joe Wright, Idris Odutayo, Alfie Harrison and Zan Besir all played the full match.

• Pressley would like Premiership clubs to share data on players' physical stats, saying it is common in English football and would be a step "in the right direction".

• He adds: "You improve by looking at the data and it telling you you're not good enough in that area so we have to improve in that area. We just don't have that at this moment in time so we're working a little bit blind in that respect. I'm always pushing my players. I want more numbers from them but I'm unsure how our numbers look against other teams so that part's difficult."
