Shaquille Gwengwe's late goal earned Newport County a point against Tranmere Rovers on a dramatic afternoon at Rodney Parade.

As the clock ticked into the 90th minute, the forward blasted into the top right-hand corner for his second of the afternoon - after the visitors had fought back from 1-0 down through goals from Zane Okoro and Dylan Jones.

The game was just 11 minutes old when Gwenge met Harrison Biggins' cross with a powerful nod across goal with the ball deflecting into the net via Tranmere defender Bobby Faulkner.

Moments later Christian Doidge was crowded out in the area as Newport looked to double their lead.

Tranmere's first real threat came when Charlie Whitaker's dangerous cross was well cleared by Alfie Merritt before former Cardiff man Will Vaulks forced Jordan Wright into a diving save.

But the visitors improved after the break as Tom Ince tested Wright before 19-year-old Okoro levelled, sliding in at the near post from Joel Senior's low cross.

Substitute Jones, on his first league appearance for the club since rejoining from Norwich, then found space in the area before finishing clinically past home keeper Wright.

It looked like that would be enough to seal a comeback win for unbeaten Tranmere, before Gwenge struck his fourth goal in just three games to salvage a point for The Exiles.
