Northampton Town secured their first League Two win of the season with Joe O'Brien-Whitmarsh scoring three minutes from time to beat Newport County 1-0.
Victory for The Cobblers came a day after investment in the club by a consortium including former AC Milan, Chelsea and Brazil forward Alexandre Pato was approved.
Chances were few and far between for both sides during an uneventful first half though Sam Chambers and O'Brien-Whitmarsh did have half chances for the hosts.
Ciaran Brennan fired over the crossbar for Newport early in the second half as both sides struggled to find the breakthrough.
Ex-Newport loanee Nathan Opoku's header from a free-kick was gathered comfortably by keeper Jordan Wright.
But a mistake by Newport defender Cameron Evans presented an opportunity which O'Brien-Whitmarsh took full advantage of with a first time shot.
Northampton are 14th in the table while a second successive loss for Newport, who have not won since the opening game of the season, sees them down to 20th.

Mullins: 'We didn't deserve to come away with nothing'
Newport County manager Hayden Mullins said: "I think one mistake and we got punished and it's happening a bit at the moment.
"It was a good strike from the guy and ends up in the back of the net. I said to the lads for everything they've put into the game we didn't deserve to come away with nothing.
"We definitely had the lion's share in the second half and we looked comfortable but at the moment we're getting punished and switching off in moments where we should be alive to the danger, pull each other around and organise better.
"They definitely deserved a point at least."
