Scunthorpe have placed player-coach Jacob Butterfield and defender Ross Barrows in interim charge of the team.

The Iron sacked Andy Butler on Wednesday after a 4-1 defeat at Tamworth left them five points adrift of safety in the National League and confirmed on Thursday his assistant John Schofield had also been relieved of his duties.

Veteran midfielder Butterfield, 36, returned for a second spell with the club in the summer and also joined Butler's coaching staff.

He will lead the side alongside Barrows, 28, in Saturday's Lincolnshire derby against Boston.

Carlisle United captain Morgan Feeney has agreed a two-year contract extension until the summer of 2029, while the club have also signed Stockport County's Callum Camps in a two-month loan deal.

Feeney, 29, is in his second spell with the Cumbrians, having rejoined them in June last year.

He previously spent two years with the club and helped them win promotion from League Two through the play-offs in 2023.

"It's been something I've wanted to sort out for a while, and I'm delighted we've finally got it done," Feeney said.

"This club means a lot to me, and being able to continue representing and captaining Carlisle United is something I'm proud of. I'm looking forward to continuing to work hard and helping the team progress."

Camps arrives after making 122 appearances for Stockport since joining them from Fleetwood Town in 2022 and is eligible to face Harrogate Town on Wednesday.

Boss Rob Elliot said of his new recruit: "I think his experience will really help some of the young midfielders we've got, strengthen the squad and really add quality in terms of on the ball and around the goal."

Woking have signed defenders Charlie McArthur and Josh Grant, as the National League club wrestles with an injury crisis.

McArthur, 21, joins on a one-month loan deal from League Two side York City, while free agent Grant has arrived on what the Cards are calling a short-term deal.

"We were close to signing Josh before he joined Carlisle last summer," Woking director of football Jody Brown said.

"We'd obviously prefer to have time to bed people in, prepare and maintain continuity, but having 10 of our 11 defenders unavailable is unprecedented."

McArthur, who can play at centre-back or left-back, joined York in the summer from Newcastle United, but has made just one substitute appearance in League Two.

However, he does have experience in that division having made 10 appearances in a loan spell at Carlisle United.

Grant's previous clubs include Bristol Rovers, Wealdstone and Carlisle.
