Southend United have signed West Ham United right-back Ryan Battrum on a month's loan.
Battrum, 21, who can also operate in midfield, played against Southend for West Ham in a pre-season friendly back in july.
"When I heard about Southend's interest I was buzzing," Battrum told Southend's website., external
"I've played against them and watched them a lot. Getting crowds of 10,000 in the National League is amazing."
Kieron Dyer's Southend sit fifth in the early-season National League table, having lost just one of their seven games so far.
"It's always good to have two players for every position," said Dyer. "He gives Vontae Daley-Campbell great competition at right-back. He's got great energy, power, and strength, and he can also invert which we like our full-backs to do. He ticks all the boxes."
Battrum is available for Tuesday's home date with Tamworth.
