England's quicks averaged just 0.35° of swing and 0.43° of seam movement in the opening 10 overs - the third lowest combined movement for the first innings of an ODI in England since 2006.

That news is tempered slightly by the impressive performance of debutant Sachin Colombage on Tuesday. He stepped up as main spinner in Hasaranga's absence and was really impressive.

Leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga is heading home after experiencing lower back pain during a practice session.

Hasaranga experienced the discomfort prior to the first one-day international on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old, who played in all three of the T20 internationals that preceded this series, will play no further part on this tour.

Sri Lanka have a pair of Mendises in the middle now - Kamindu and Kusal. Kusal is the skipper.

Kamindu Mendis shows the quality of this surface by dispatching Josh Tongue over the leg-side for four.

Harry Brook withdraws his slip fielder in this over - an admission that run-scoring needs to be slowed. This is a good pitch, far better for batting than the one up at Chester-le-Street.
