World Road Running Championships 2026 - watch across the BBC

Copenhagen hosts the fourth edition of the World Athletics Road Running Championships, external this September and you can follow all of the action across the BBC.
The World Road Running Championships were first held in 2023 and feature mile races alongside men’s and women’s 5k events.
Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen - off the back of his 5,000m win at the Ultimate Athletics Championships in Budapest earlier this month - leads a field packed with talent as global titles will be awarded over a mile, 5km and half marathon.
Jess McClain, who has recorded the fastest marathon times for an American woman in both 2025 and 2026, competes in the half marathon.
UK Athletics has a 13-strong team, external in the Danish capital representing GB & Northern Ireland.
They include Tokyo Olympic finalist Jake Heyward, who just missed out on medals at both the 2026 Commonwealth Games and European Athletics Championships. He finished fourth in the 1500m at both events.
Two-time UK 1500m champion Sarah Calvert makes her debut in the women's mile.
Alex Bell and Samantha Harrison represent Great Britain in the women's half marathon, while the men's team features Alfie Manthorpe, Jack Rowe, Joe Wigfield and Charles Wheeler.
Megan Keith and Commonwealth bronze medallist Hannah Nuttal will compete in the women’s 5K.
David Mullarkey, who added a Commonwealth bronze medal in the 10,000m to his UK 5,000m title, will compete for the men.

Men’s half marathon: Alfie Manthorpe, Jack Rowe, Joe Wigfield and Charles Wheeler.
Women’s 5K: Megan Keith and Hannah Nuttall.
Men‘s 5K: David Mullarkey.
Women’s mile: Sarah Calvert and Katie Snowden.
Men’s mile: Archie Davis and Jake Heyward.
