What is the UK and how is it run?

On 7 May, there are elections happening for the Scottish Parliament, the Senedd (or Welsh Parliament) and some local councils in England.

But why are they important?

Well, to understand that, you need to understand what the UK is and how things are decided in each of the different nations across the country.

It's all to do with something called devolution.
