It was a nervy start for England, with Croatia putting plenty of pressure on the Three Lions.

However, twelve minutes into the game, Noni Madueke was fouled inside the Croatia penalty area, and the referee pointed to the spot.

Up stepped Harry Kane, who put England ahead with a retaken penalty - after the goalkeeper was judged to have moved off his line too early.

However, Croatia equalised in the 36th minute thanks to a powerful drive.

Kane restored England's lead six minutes later, heading home from Declan Rice's corner.

His second goal of the game was a big moment for the England captain.

It was his 10th goal at a World Cup, drawing him level with England's all-time record scorer at the tournament.

Kane has also now scored more penalties (excluding shootouts) than any other player in World Cup history.

But the first half wasn't over yet. Croatia struck again just before the break, making it 2-2 at half-time.

The start of the second half saw England create plenty of chances, with the Croatia goalkeeper making a number of important saves.

However, Jude Bellingham put England back in front with a powerful run and finish.

And substitute Marcus Rashford added another late on in the game, to give England a 4-2 victory.

Speaking after the match, England manager Thomas Tuchel said he was "very happy" with the result.

"We showed a good reaction and the players went for it and played with courage and played with intensity, and we played on the front foot.

"We created a lot of chances and scored some great goals," he added.
