President Donald Trump's administration has asked Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign from her position as US ambassador to Greece, the new White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia announced in her premiere briefing.
Guilfoyle, a former Fox News host, had been facing mounting scrutiny after reports she allegedly asked a Trump donor to pay her hefty credit card bill in exchange for access to his administration.
She firmly denies the claims against her and has vowed to "vigorously defend my name".
Zacharia's first briefing at the lectern - while brief - was applauded by Trump, who said she did "very good". Guilfoyle, however, did not earn his praise. "I didn't like what I read," he told reporters before departing for Alaska.
Guilfoyle has since released a statement regarding her tenure, but as our White House reporter notes, her language makes it unclear if she's accepted the resignation.
We're going to be ending our live coverage on Guilfoyle's ouster, but you can stay across further updates in our main news story, or watch our North America correspondent break down Zacharia's first press briefing below.
