Image source, Getty ImagesTaiwan's Central Weather Administration continues to issue warnings for both sea and land as Typhoon Champi approaches.
Champi is currently located southeast of Yilan, moving northwest and then northeast. Its storm circle is gradually enveloping Taiwan, posing a threat to the country and outlying islands such as Penghu.
The Central Weather Bureau says Champi is expected to slow down as it moves towards the north-east coast from this afternoon to evening, and may even exhibit irregular movements such as circling.
Therefore, the current assessment is that the chance of it making landfall is not high.
Rainfall is expected to be most significant tomorrow morning, and the storm will move away from the island by tomorrow night.
