That's all from Craig Gordon, and us, for now.

We'll bring you full quotes from the keeper on the BBC Sport Scotland website shortly.

BBC Scotland's chief sports writer, Tom English, will have a feature piece on Gordon too.

Look out for some exclusive Steve Clarke content also coming today.

    What more could you want?

    Bye for now.

  2. Essential pre-World Cup viewingpublished at 15:33 BST

A brand-new episode of Icons of Football goes live tomorrow.

The BBC Scotland documentary on Gordon's life and times premieres on BBC iPlayer from Wednesday at 0600 BST.

Through a succession of serious injuries - ankle issues, broken arms, broken leg, knee surgeries, neck and shoulder problems - he's missed an estimated 1,975 days of football or around 200 games. Way back in 2012, he suffered patellar tendonitis, a career-threatening condition that kept him out for two years.

Now it's time for a - potential - last dance at the World Cup. Tremendous.

The highly scientific thumbs-up, thumbs-down method suggests you want Gordon in goal for the Haiti game, then.

    Steve Clarke, think on...

  4. Who's your number one?published at 15:25 BST

Let's say Steve Clarke is picking between Angus Gunn and Craig Gordon to start in goal this weekend.

    Who would you prefer?

    Thumbs up for Craig Gordon.

    Thumbs down for Angus Gunn.

Liam Kelly, I can only apologise, but we've only got two thumbs.

And that's the media conference with Craig Gordon over.

The players have an off day today, no training on the grass, so they can maybe explore the city of Charlotte or hit a golf ball, although resting the legs might be advisable.

There was a wry smile when he was asked if the manager had given him any clues on what he was thinking about the goalkeeping situation.

"Those things will remain in the past, there's nothing anybody can do about it now," says Gordon.

"It's part of what happens in football, you have to move on.

"We're at a World Cup now..."

  9. 'Shankland is the complete forward'published at 15:18 BST

On the question of the "evolution" of Scotland striker Lawrence Shankland, who is no longer a clubmate of Gordon after moving from Hearts to Rangers, the 43-year-old says: "Not only the goals he scores but the leadership qualities he brings to Hearts.

"Since he has been handed the captain's armband, he has never looked back.

"He's no longer just a goalscorer, he links the play well, he's very intelligent and brings others into the game.

"He's quite a complete forward now."

The vast majority of the reporters in the room are from the Scottish media, but there are seven cameras trained on Craig Gordon as he speaks, suggesting there's a fair bit of interest in this Scotland squad from elsewhere.

  11. Gordon's No.1 aimpublished at 15:16 BST

"Train as best as I possibly can over the next few days and see who the manager picks."

No inclination about who will be Scotland's number one choice between the sticks, safe to say.

On the heat, Gordon says tactically it is a change too, as players can't hit high speeds and run as much as they may like to.

However, he says the squad are putting in "unbelievable" numbers in the warm-up games, and have all acclimatised well to the conditions.

  13. 'The team are ready'published at 15:14 BST

"Without a doubt, I thought this opportunity had passed me by on more than one occasion," Gordon adds.

"To finally be here and see it, it's a huge moment.

"To finally get here, on the edge of the tournament starting properly.

"I also feel the team is ready to go."

  14. Postpublished at 15:13 BST

"Magnificent to be here, after all the years of trying, not only personally but as a country.

    "Delighted to be here.

"It feels like it's getting real now," Gordon says, when asked how he's feeling right now.

A press conference starting on time is a rarity, mind you.

Gordon is the oldest player at the 2026 World Cup, at 43 years old.

Should he feature this summer, the Hearts stopper would become the second-oldest player in World Cup history.

Egypt keeper Essam El Hadary holds the record for the oldest player to ever appear in a World Cup match, at the age of 45 years and 161 days.
