Birmingham City have signed midfielder Jhon Solis from Spanish side Girona for an undisclosed fee on a four-year deal, subject to clearance.

The 21-year-old will officially join Blues on July 1, having impressed on a loan spell with the Championship club during the second half of last season.

Colombia-born Solis made 18 appearances in all competitions, scoring once, as the club finished 10th in the Championship - their highest-league finish for a decade.

After exercising a clause in the loan agreement with the Spanish side, Solis becomes Chris Davies' first signing of the summer transfer window.

The ball-winning midfielder began his career in Colombia with Atlético Nacional, helping the side win domestic honours in successive seasons before earning a move to La Liga side Girona in September 2023.

Solis went on to make 61 appearances in all competitions for Girona, including five appearances in the UEFA Champions League against the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Arsenal.
