Seamer O'Riordan signs Glamorgan deal

Glamorgan have signed pace bowler Connor O'Riordan on a deal running until the end of the 2027 season.

O'Riordan played three One Day Cup matches after an extended trial with the Welsh county's second team.

The 24-year-old was born in Australia but has a UK passport and qualifies as a domestic player.

"It's been a great experience making the move over to Wales and joining to boys at Glamorgan," O'Riordan said.

"Signing my first professional contract has been something I have been working towards my whole cricket career and for it to come while being over here is really exciting.

"I'm eager to get out there and show more of what I've got to offer and contribute what I can in the back end of the season."

O'Riordan took two wickets on his home debut for Glamorgan against Essex after an expensive start in matches away to Middlesex and Durham.

He had previously represented New South Wales' second team and played grade cricket in Sydney alongside Ryan Hadley, who featured for Glamorgan in their first eight Championship games.

Left-arm seamer Ray Toole, meanwhile, is playing for Glamorgan's second team.

Toole, from Central Districts in New Zealand, could feature as Glamorgan's overseas bowler in the final six Championship matches.

The additions come with Glamorgan short of seam bowlers for the final block of four-day games.

Ned Leonard and Tom Norton are missing through injury while Jamie McIlroy is also currently sidelined.

Toole, 28, took 24 wickets in his most recent four first-class matches in New Zealand.

Born in South Africa to British parents, he previously had a spell with Essex as well as making an appearance for Durham.
