The Marlins finish the job without fuss to win this one by 10 runs to 3.

The game turned on the fifth inning when the Marlins bought home five runs in a row.

Pete Crow-Armstrong's 40th home run of the season was the high point for the Cubs and even if there was not much else to enjoy they do still sit in a good position in the Wild Card race.

This game looks to be all but over now with the Cubs down to their final three outs and trailing by seven.

Unless something very special is about to happen, it looks as if the Marlins have managed to avoid a sweep at their own stadium.

The Marlins reach double figures with a home run from Javier Sanoja.

His fly-ball to left field also brings home Otto Lopez from second base to make it 10-3 to the Marlins.

More joy for the Marlins and they're now racing away in the fifth inning.

Heriberto Hernandez's single to centre field scores Griffin Conine.

Then a line drive single to right field from Joe Mack allows Owen Caissie to cruise home.

After every single batter had stepped up to the plate at least once, the Marlins added five runs in a disastrous fifth inning for the Cubs.

The inning is finally over now and the Marlins have built up an 8-3 lead.

The Marlins have the bases loaded as Cubs pitcher Clay Holmes loses control of them in the fifth inning.

The result is a strange first run scored as Griffin Connine is hit by a pitch allowing Graham Pauley to walk home.

Then a single to right field from Owen Caissie brings home Javier Sanoja and Kyle Stowers.

The Marlins now lead 6-3.

These two sides are now trading heavy punches - and that means the home runs are flowing.

Pete Crow-Armstrong is the latest to get in on the act for the Cubs as he launches a ball towards right field.

The ball just about stays inside the foul pole as it travels over the wall and the Cubs are level again at 3-3.

He's the National League MVP favourite for plenty of reasons but one good one is that he now has 40 home runs for the season.

The Marlins are back in front immediately!

Heriberto Hernandez smashes his 24th home run of the season off the first pitch at the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 3-2.

Later in the inning Otto Lopez goes close to adding another home run, but left fielder Tyrone Taylor makes a big catch at the fence to save the Cubs.

The Cubs are quickly on the move again in the fourth inning as Alex Bregman finds himself at first base after he was walked and Michael Conforto delivered with a single.

Nico Hoerner then grounds into a double play but with no outs Bregman is able to make it home and level the game up at 2-2.

A good response from the Cubs as they immediately eat into the Marlins' lead.

No real surprise that it comes from the bat of Pete Crow-Armstrong as he launches a high sacrifice fly-ball that allows Carson Kelly to score from third base.

The Marlins hold on to their lead but it's now 2-1.

The home team strike the first blows in Miami.

First Jakob Marsee scores from third base as Joe Mack grounds out.

Then a single from Otto Lopez allows Heriberto Hernandez to also score from third base.

The Marlins lead it 2-0 at the end of the second inning.

Here we go then in Miami. Tyler Phillips is pitching for the Marlins and Pete Crow-Armstrong is at-bat for the Cubs.

Cubs' centre fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong - often referred to as PCA - has fired himself into the position of strong favourite for the National League Most Valuable Player award in 2026.

Crow-Armstrong has hit the second-most home runs in Major League Baseball this season with 39, recorded the most runs of any player with 105 and has stolen base 33 times.

He has also been dominant in the field, producing one of the catches of the season during Friday's game between these two sides to rob Heriberto Hernandez of a home run.

PCA looks likely to unseat the great Shohei Ohtani, the winner of the last two National League MVP awards who has helped the Los Angeles Dodgers win back-to-back World Series titles.

The Marlins name the same nine players in their line-up as they did on Saturday, but they have changed up their batting order.

The Cubs make just one change to their starting line-up with Carson Kelly replacing Miguel Amaya as catcher.

The front four batters - Crow-Armstrong, Suzuki, Bregman and Busch - have combined for 95 home runs so far this season.

Both teams remain in the post-season picture but with the regular season games rapidly running out the Marlins are in need of a victory to inject some momentum into their push.

The Cubs meanwhile are looking to finish off a sweep of this series after twice scoring six runs in their victories on Friday and Saturday.
