It’s long been a popular east coast venue for locals, holidaymakers and entertainers and in 2026 the Embassy Theatre in Skegness is celebrating its centenary. The seafront venue, which has seen many changes since it opened, has hosted some of the biggest names in British showbusiness and variety, with legendary comic Sir Ken Dodd appearing at the Embassy for 45 years in a row. Karl Bird went for a backstage tour of the theatre and spoke to some of the stars who have performed there, including Jasper Carrott, Showaddywaddy frontman Dave Bartram, Alfie Boe, and in one of his final interviews, Jimmy Cricket.
