A creeping disaster: Turkey's sinkholes

There are nearly 700 sinkholes in central Turkey and their numbers are rapidly increasing, endangering the livelihood and the lives of the region’s farmers. These holes are a symptom of the ongoing drought and uncontrolled groundwater use in Konya, Turkey's agricultural heartland.
