A psychedelic surfboard changed my life
Sung Min "Mini" Cho was once a beach bum without a board, until a random act of generosity put him on track to be Mozambique's first pro surfer.
Sung Min "Mini" Cho spent much of his childhood in the coastal town of Tofo, Mozambique. He was at home on the beach, and spent hours staring out at the legendary waves and the foreign surfers who rode them. He was desperate to get involved but surfing wasn't really something locals did, until in a random act of generosity, a tourist gave him a brightly coloured board. This set him on track to be Mozambique's first pro surfer.
Orhan Maslo set up the Mostar Rock School to teach kids who have been divided by the conflict in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He told Jo Fidgen, in 2018, about the role music played in his life after he recovered from his experiences as a child soldier.
