Twenty countries have released a statement calling on Israel to allow more aid into Gaza.

Twenty countries have a released a joint statement describing the humanitarian situation in Gaza as 'catastrophic' and calling on Israel to allow more aid into the territory. Australia, Japan and Britain are among the signatories urging Israel to overturn a new law allowing the government to ban dozens of international aid organisations. We speak to aid workers about the situation on the ground.

UK police chiefs have told the BBC that hundreds, if not thousands, of people's homes are being taken over by criminals every week, usually to store and deal drugs. Perpetrators of so-called cuckooing often target vulnerable people, including the elderly or disabled, by forcing themselves into homes to carry out illegal acts.
