Liam McIlvanney is a Scottish crime novelist, exploring the Bible John murders in his award-winning The Quaker (2018) and delving into darkness in The Heretic (2022). His psychological thriller, The Good Father, was published last year. He is the winner of the Saltire First Book Award, the Ngaio Marsh Award for Best Crime Novel and was awarded the McIlvanney Prize by the Bloody Scotland, the international crime writing festival, in 2018. Liam is the Stuart Professor of Scottish Studies at the University of Otago.
