Bells on Sunday comes from St Mathew’s church in Chapel Allerton, Leeds in West Yorkshire. The current building dates from 1900 having replaced a much earlier building that could not accommodate an increasing congregation arising from the industrial growth in the Leeds area. There are six bells, installed as a clock chime in 1946 by the John Taylor of Loughborough foundry and upgraded to full circle ringing peal in 1954. The tenor weighs seven and a half hundredweight and is tuned to the note of B flat. We hear them ringing Plain Bob Doubles.
