Soweto is back with another hour of exciting new releases and classics from across the jazz spectrum.

All this week, from Monday to Thursday, Soweto’s guest has been British saxophonist, composer, and educator Denys Baptiste. He’s been sharing some of the records that have influenced him for 4/4. To round off his week, tonight Denys selects an album by a pioneering American jazz trumpeter who had a deep impact on the music, even though his time on earth was short.

Denys’ latest album, ‘The Last Trane’, is out now.
