Two Southampton based bands have been given the chance to perform at St Mary's Stadium in the city.

Myriad and Hot Sauce are both unsigned acts, meaning they have no record contracts or official backing.

Nevertheless, they took to the stage as warm-up acts before the headliners, Scouting For Girls, Sophie Ellis Bextor and McFly.

Callum Lintott and Josh Betteridge of Hot Sauce are both lifelong fans of Southampton Football Club.

"We just got asked by the club. We thought we were being pranked at first but it was real and here we are," said Lintott.

Betteridge added: "It's a dream, a bucket list thing for a musician to play your home stadium. We've just got to go out and enjoy ourselves. And smash it."

Myriad won their place in the concert by performing in a competition.

"We won a battle of the bands", said frontman David Littleton.

"It's hard to put into words because this is like tenfold of anything we've ever done. You just have to believe that you're ready and you'll be ready."

After the concert Myriad thanked the crowd for the opportunity.

Littleton said: "Southampton, that was insane. Thank you so much to everybody for singing. It was wild!"
